Who am I? I am currently Technical Director at the Soccer eyeQ coaching clinic. I hold the prestigious UEFA A Licence qualification with three national associations – English FA, Irish FA and Welsh FA. I am also a speaker on the UEFA Pro Licence and UEFA A Licence courses. The easy-to-follow drills will dramatically improve your team's performance
The DVD was produced with the Irish Football Association and is used on their UEFA Licence courses. During the DVD, I run through 12 comprehensive coaching sessions with a group of young players which you can easily replicate with your team.
Sessions feature an animated introduction making them very easy to follow. Key coaching points are also highlighted so you can be sure players are getting the most out of each drill.
The 12 progressive drills start with a simple exercise before becoming more difficult. For instance, in the first drill players have to look round and name the colour of a flag or cone held up behind them before they receive a pass.
Subsequent drills require the player to think even more and build up their skills. They will have to name coloured cones and perform a task such as touching the floor, their knee, or their boot, while a pass is on its way to them.
More players and defenders are then introduced. The final drills require players to avoid defenders, find their team mates in a crowded space and pass and move quickly. They will have to do all this while still looking to see what cones and flags are being held up and carry out the task indicated by its colour.
Players will instinctively see more, think quicker and play better!
In a very short time you should see players being far more pro-active on the pitch. Your team's overall
decision making, anticipation and ability to execute the right move at the right time, will rapidly improve.
Instinctively players will look around to decide on their next move before they receive the ball. Awareness will become a habit.
